Herald Coaster, October 9, 2001: Funeral services for Rubin B. Sabrsula, 69, of Needville, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church of Needville, with the Rev. Dan Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Sury, Chris Sury, Keith Martin, Jarrod Stasney, Shane Sabrsula, and Charles Sabrsula. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Garmany & Carden Chapel, 3103 School St. in Needville. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Sabrsula was born Oct. 3, 1932 in Fairchilds to Emil Sabrsula and Albina Matocha Sabrsula, and he died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital in Richmond. He was a farmer and rancher, a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Needville, and a member of S.P.J.S.T. Survivors include his wife, Vivian Sabrsula of Needville; four daughters, Linda Martin of Houston, Jake Stasney and her husband, Bobby, Wanda Lubojacky and her husband, Robert, and Debra Vela and her husband, Adam, of Needville; a son, David Sabrsula, all of Fairchilds; two step-daughters, Jan Vacek and her husband, Richard, and Pam Vacek and her husband, Dennis, all of Fairchilds; two step-sons, James Vogler and his wife, Dorothy, of Fairchilds, and Ted Vogler and his wife, Dodie, of Boling; grandchildren, Michael Sury, Chris Sury and his wife, Shelley, Keith and Deanna Martin, Shelly and Jarrod Stasney, Lynzie Zwahr, Shane Sabrsula, Charles Sabrsula, Ashley Sabrsula, and Victoria Sabrsula; two great-grandsons, Colby Zwahr and Corinthen Sury; step-grandchildren, Richard Vacek Jr. and his wife, Karen, Gwen Sury and her husband, Craig, Dustin Vacek, Jaime Lynn Vacek, Chad Vogler, Kevin Vogler, Randy Vogler, Ryan Vogler, Rusty Vogler, Ethan Sury, Katie Vacek, and Jacob Vacek; a sister, Vlasta Kirkendall; sisters-in-law, Alma Sabrsula and Angeline Sabrsula; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil Sabrsula and Albina Matocha Sabrsula; a son, Rubin Sabrsula Jr.; brothers, Albert and Vestine Sabrsula; and a daughter-in-law, Becky Sabarsula.
