Oscar was married to Cora Leah Younce. Oscar's brother, George, married Cora's sister, Alice Louise Younce. Oscar L. Strickler, 63, of Fordtown, died at his residence at 10:40 a.m. Saturday after a long illness. He was born and raised in Sullivan County, the son of Jack W. and Amanda Moody Strickler, a pioneer family of Sullivan County. He was an employee of the Mead Corp. for 25 years. Strickler was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and the Fordtown Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Cora Younce Strickler, Kingsport; four daughters, Mrs. Estel Greer, Miss Lula Mae Strickler, Miss Helene Strickler and Mrs. Elbert Caldwell, all of Kingsport; three sons, Sherman, Greenville; Denver and Daniel; one sister, Mrs. James F. Willis; five brothers, Columbus C and Earl, all of Kingsport; George W., Jonesboro; Dewey C. and James J., of Indian Springs; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Fordtown Baptist Church with the Rev. Dallas Harding officiating. Burial will be in Emory Cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers. The body will be taken to the residence at 3 p.m. Sunday from Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. It will be taken to the church one hour before services.
