His brother, Oscar, married Alice's sister, Cora Leah Younce. George W. Strickler, 64, of Fordtown, died at 8:10 a.m. Thursday at Holston Valley Community Hospital. Born in Sullivan County, he moved to Washington County 10 years ago on his retirement after 25 years as an employee of the Mead Corporation. He was a member of the Fordtown Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Alice Younce Strickler; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Carter, of Kingsport; two sons, G. W. Jr., Louisville, Ky., and Thomas G Strickler, Norfolk, Va., one sister, Mrs. J. F. Willis, Kingsport; four brothers, Columbus and Earl Strickler, Kingsport; J. J. and Dewey Strickler, Indian Springs; and six grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
