The Fairfield Auxiliary (Fairfield, NE), Thursday, September 4, 1947; pg. 1 LIPOVSKY - KARMAZIN Basket arrangements of garden flowers and lighted candles adorned the altar of St. Martin's Church, Loucky, at 8:30, Thursday morning, Aug. 28, at the Rev. Gregory Petrus solemnized the double ring ceremony to unite in marriage Miss Elsie Ann Lipovsky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lipovsky, and Mr. Robert J. Karmazin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Karmazin of Lawrence. The ceremony was performed in the presence of 200 guests. The Misses Norma and Lorraine Drudik, accompanied by their aunt, Mrs. Grace Drudik at the organ, sang "Ave (sic) Maria" at the Offeratory. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a traditional white gown styled with a fitted satin bodice, complemented by a georgette yoke, edged in Alenson (sic) lace in a sweetheart form. The long sleeves were petal-pointed over the wrists. Tiny buttons trimmed the back and the full skirt of georgette ended in a court train. Her fingertip veil also was edged in Alenson (sic) lace and was secured to a beaded and pearl crown. She wore a double strand of pearls, a gift of the groom, and carried a cascade bouquet of white gardenias tied with white satin ribbon. Bridesmaids were Miss Dorothy Lipovsky and Miss Loretta Karmazin, sisters of the bride and groom. They wore floor length marquisite (sic) gowns of turquoise blue and salmon pink respectively. They were fashioned with a high neckline, long full sleeves, and shirred bodices on which the full skirts were gathered. The two attendants wore miniature flowers in their hair and each carried a cascade bouquet of pink gladiolus. The groom's attendants were his brothers, Willard and Eugene Karmazin. Raymond Wolfe and Edward Petr, cousins of the bride and groom, served as ushers. All wore dark business suits and white carnation boutonniers (sic). The mothers of the bridal couple wore black crepe dresses with matching accessories. Each wore a corsage of snow white roses. Breakfast for the wedding party was held at the bride's parents' home. A 3-course dinner was served to 100 guests in the Lawrence church parlor. For favors, each received a white book of matches with the gold inscription, "It's a match, Elsie and Bob" A bouquet of garden flowers stood at either end of the lace covered table which was lighted by white tapers. The 3-tiered wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom, was baked by the groom's sister, Mrs. Bernard Svoboda. The groom's cake was baked by the bride's sister-in-law, Mrs. Edward Lipovsky. Mrs. Edward Sekora, the bride's sister, was in charge of the guest book. For a wedding trip to Denver, Colo., the bride chose as her going way outfit a gray dress with black accessories. She is a graduate of Lawrence high school. Class of '42, and was employed at the Western Electric Company in Lincoln. Mr. Karmazin, also a graduate of Lawrence high school, Class of '42, served with the Army during the war. After October 1, they will be at their new home five miles east of Lawrence, where the groom engaged in farming. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Phil Haegan of Trenton; Mrs. Ed Maul and family, Mrs. Frank Vap and family, Mrs. Steve Friend and Roxanna; Mr. Jo Dusatko, all of Hastings; Ben, Stanley, and Martha Faimon of Stratton: and Dr. and Mrs. F. M. Harbough of Edgar. A dance was given in the evening in their honor at the Lawrence Parish Hall with a large crowd in attendance. ======================== The Nuckolls County Locomotive-Gazette, Thursday, March 27, 2014; pg. 8 Area residents were saddened again last week upon learning of the death of Lawrence area native and long time resident, Elsie Ann Karmazin. Mrs. Karmazin, age 88, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Blue Hill Care Center in Blue Hill, Nebraska. Funeral services were held Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence with the Mass of Christian Burial con-celebrated by Father Thomas Bush and Msgr. Ivan Vap. Assisting with the service was Deacon, Duane Karmazin, Song Leader was Sherri Buescher and Organist was Linda Ostdiek. Craig Buescher served as Reader. Casket Bearers were: Kenneth Vacek, William Vacek, Eric Karmazin, Andrew Karmazin, David Karmazin and Robert Woodward. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery east of Lawrence. A Rosary Service was held on Sunday evening at Sacred Heart church (sic). The Sacred Heart parish Altar Society served a luncheon following services on Monday. The Merten-Butler Mortuary was serving the family with the arrangements. Elsie was born April 29, 1925 in Spring Ranch, Nebraska to John & Lillian (Wolfe) Lipovsky. She was baptized at St. Martins Loucky Catholic Church. She attended Prairie Rose Country School District #4 in Clay County and then Lawrence High School, graduating in 1942. After graduation, she worked in Lincoln at Western Electric Company until marrying Robert J. Karmazin on August 28, 1947 at St. Martins Loucky Catholic Church. They made their home in the country, four miles east and one and one-fourth miles north of Lawrence. She worked as a bookkeeper at Ron's Pharmacy from 1979 until 2001 for her son, Ron. She was active in Sacred Heart Altar Society, Home & School Organization, Lawrence Legion Auxiliary, Lawrence Extension Club, and Lochland Country Club. She enjoyed being a leader in 4-H. She had a special fondness for her fruit, vegetable and flower gardens over the years. Bob and Elsie enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in California where they enjoyed golfing and visiting friends. In 1981, they moved to their new home in Lawrence. In 2009, with Elsie's failing health, they moved to College View Assisted Living in Hastings, Nebraska where Elsie made her home until the last month. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents and son, Michael R. Karmazin. Survivors to mourn her passing include husband Robert J. Karmazin, Hastings; Children, Spouses & families: Michael R.
