Annie Sustala, 94, joined her Heavenly Father, Thursday, March 6, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Service: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood. Annie was born Dec. 3, 1919, the fifth of 10 children; she grew up on the family farm in Penelope. Her father, Gabriel Snapka, was an accomplished musician and leader of the Snapka Band where she developed a love of Czech music. Married to Andrew Sustala for 59 years, they settled in Fort Worth where they raised their children. She retired from Gililland Elementary School. Funny, zany, engaging, clever and loving, Annie was an absolute delight to every life she touched. She loved to clown around and brought joy to all that knew her, particularly to her family and friends who will remember her always as a person full of life, vigor and love. Annie was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, SPJST where she celebrated her Czech heritage and participated in many Saginaw Senior Citizens' activities, including playing the drums. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew, and infant daughter, Doris. Survivors: Son, Jerry Sustala and wife, Beverly, of Fort Worth; daughter, Margie Turner and husband, Scott, of Bartlett; sisters, Elnora Uptmore of West, Frances Walker of Chico, Calif., and Jodi Darilek of Megargel; grandchildren, Clay Sustala, Stacy Sustala Previte, Jud Sustala, Gwendy Milner Lefforge and Roman Milner; and 12 great-grandchildren.
