Bio

Charles grew up on the family farm near Eureka, ND. He married Mary New on 22 April 1945 in Minot, ND. They lived on a farm north of Minot. Charles worked for the Farmers Union Elevator, Checker Cab Co. and GTA Elevator, all in Minot. He transferred with GTA to their plant in Edgeley, ND in August 1960 where he worked as a supervisor. In 1964, Charlie lost his right hand in the mill machine and left GTA in 1967. Later he owned Charlie's Menswear, Charlie's Barn (a bar) and Edgeley Cleaners in Edgeley. In 1979 they moved to Jud, ND and he owned the Jud Bar. He also was a volunteer fireman in Edgeley from 1964-1980 and also was on the Jud volunteer fire dept. In 1993, he retired and they moved to Garrison, ND. Charles and Mary had daughters: Charlene, Julia, Gloria and Robin.
