Bio
Lois B. Kirschner, age 85, of Pleasanton, NE died Friday afternoon, February 28, 2014 at the Homestead Assisted Living facility in Kearney. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, March 6, 2014, 10:30 a.m., at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pleasanton with Fr. Marty Egging officiating. Burial will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pleasanton. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 5 to 7 pm at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and one hour prior to the Mass Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pleasanton. A vigil service will be Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Sr. Paulette Kuta. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Lois was born December 29, 1928 in Central City, Nebraska to Clause and Anna (Holz) Wagner. She graduated from Central City High School in 1945. She then completed her nursing program at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. She married Charles Kirschner April 12, 1951 in Central City. They lived on the homesteaded family farm west of Pleasanton until moving into Pleasanton in 1976. Lois then moved into the Homestead in Kearney in January of 2013. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the St. Mary's Catholic Church Altar Society, and the Pleasanton American Legion Auxiliary. Lois loved quilting, gardening, playing cards, and baking. Surviving relatives include her sons; David Kirschner and his wife Judy of Pleasanton, NE, Rick Kirschner of Wood River, NE, Robert Kirschner and his wife Connie of Pleasanton, NE, daughters; Pam Rockefeller and her husband Lee of Kenesaw, NE, Patricia Petska and her husband Marty of Ord, NE, sisters; Fern Ward of Boise, ID, Nina Pickrel of Central City, NE, Alice Butt of Central City, NE, 15 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Charles, two infant sons, 1 infant grandson, and 1 infant great grandson.
