Bio

John A. Calvert, 91, of Crystal River, Fla., passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at the Hospice House in Lecanto, Fla. He was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Cullman to Charles E. and Mary Freeman Calvert. John moved to Citrus County 34 years ago from Chiefland, Fla. John was a retired sheet metal worker and a Baptist. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Vera, in March 2009. He is survived by two children, Shelia Riddle of Albertville, Ala., and Rodney Calvert of Montgomery, Texas; two sisters, Ruby Frey and Florence Willoughby; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Private burial will take place at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. Published in Cullman Times, The (AL) - Wednesday, February 12, 2014
