Bio

Robert Lee Staples, 85, passed away on Janurary 17, 2014 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on June 6, 1928 to the late Ross and Ola Taylor Staples in Tuleta, Texas. He will be dearly missed. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be remembered for his love of his family and traveling. He particularly enjoyed visiting Tennessee the most. Robert proudly served in the United States Navy, the United States Coast Guard and went on to retire with the military. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Tommy Staples, and Sam Staples. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved wife of 21 years Maria Rosie Staples; children, Debbie Staples McDearman of Knoxville, Tennessee, Gail Staples Luna of Corpus Christi, Texas, Ronnie Staples of Tuleta, Texas, June Staples Williams of Summerdale, Alabama, and one step son Charles "Chucky" Black of Tuleta, Texas. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Roxanne Patterson of Knoxville, Tennessee, Sammi Reyes of Corpus Christi, Texas, Crystal Luna of Corpus Christi, Texas, Brittany Luna of Skidmore, Texas, D.D. Staples of Corpus Christi, Texas, Donnie Staples of Corpus Christi, Texas, Connie Lynn Koedyker of Aransas Pass, Texas; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Hink Staples, Ted Staples, Gladys Herrod, Cordelia Sparks, Velma Kosa, Anna Bell Staples; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with military honors.
