Mrs. Levina (Vanek) Hooks passed away on January 25, 2014 in Hobson, Texas at the age of 87. She was born on September 17, 1926 in Sweet Home, Texas to the late Louis Vanek and Frances (Felip) Vavek. She is survived by her children, Betty Kowalik (George) of Panna Maria, James (Connie) Hooks of Williford, AK, Diana Harris (Robert) of El Paso,TX and Karen Martin (Jeff) of Thatcher, AZ; sister, Martha Kret; brothers Tommie and Joe Vanek; by 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Oliver James Hooks, infant daughter, Sharon Hooks, brothers, Felix and Edmund Vanek and by her infant granddaughter, Trina Krawietz. Visitation will begin on Sunday February 2, 2014 at 5:00 pm at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hobson. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Sunday in Hobson. A funeral mass will be held on Monday February 3, 2014 at 2:30 pm at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hobson. Interment will follow in the Hobson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustin Yaklin, Chris Martin, Scott Myllo, Shawn Hooks, James Hooks, Jr. and Chris Bishop. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home.
