Treyonne Joy Russell Cowan, 83, of Waco, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Providence Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 28, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Pastor Amos Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in Moody Cemetery. Treyonne was born in Eddy, Texas, to the late S.J. and Rosa Lee Russell. She attended East Junior High and Waco High School. She joined Turner Street Baptist Church when her family moved to Waco and later was a long-time member of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church. Treyonne worked at Monnig's Department Store before starting a family. She and John W. Cowan were married on November 14, 1953, and enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her husband; and brothers, John V. and James Russell. Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Queen and Kathy Cowan, both of Waco; grandson, Geoff Queen and wife, Jennifer, of Austin; sister, Vineta Melton, of Mesquite; sister-in-law, Juanita Russell; many nieces, nephews and cousins; along with many friends.
