Del Burt Hampton 1931 - 1974 VETERAN Joint funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Anderson and Sons Mortuary Chapel, American Fork, for Del Burt Hampton, 43, and his son, Alan "Augie" Clark Hampton, 20. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in American Fork Cemetery. Del Burt Hampton was born March 1, 1931, in Lehi to Armon M. "Dude" and Ovena Grace Jensen Hampton. He married Shirley Rae Roberts on June 9, 1951 in Elko, Nev. He was a computer systems analyst. Mr. Hampton was a member of the LDS Church [The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints] in the Sixth Ward. He was a Korean War veteran. Del Burt's survivors include his widow, two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Sherry Lee) Kampros, West Jordan; Kent, Steven Neils and Tina Renee Hampton, all of American Fork; his parents, American Fork; four grandchildren; five brothers and three sisters, Von A. Hampton, Merlin D. Hampton, Mrs. Randy L. (LaMae) Bean and Mrs. Jack E. (Doreen) Doyle, all of American Fork; Monte Ray Hampton, Lehi; Mrs. Jerry (Kay) Kofford, Orem; Michael Lee Hampton, Hayward, Calif,; and Ronald Jay Hampton, San Lorenzo, Calif. — Original obituary published by: The Daily Herald | Provo, Utah | Monday, 29 July 1974 | p. 4 | transcribed by Annie Duckett Hundley | Friday, 25 August 2023 ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- HEAD-ON CRASH The Utah High [Highway] Patrol reported that Del B. and Allen [Alan "Augie"] Hampton were attending a family outing near Faust in Tooele County at the time of their deaths. They were killed in a head-on motorcycle crash Saturday evening. Highway Patrol trooper said Del Hampton was in camp when darkness began to fall and decided to go out and round up the rest of the motorcycle riders. He apparently started out on the Faust road to find them and collided head-on with a dirt bike driven by his son as they both crested a small knoll in opposite directions.
