Bio

Marion Oliver Pinson, 93, of Shawnee, passed from this life into heavenly glory, where Jesus Christ and his family and friends were awaiting him, on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, in Shawnee. Marion Oliver Pinson was born June 5, 1920, on a small farm outside of Wanette, the son of Marlin A. Pinson and Lula E. (De-Jarnette) Pinson. He attended school in Wanette. He served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1945. On Aug. 1, 1949, he married Greta (Anderson). In 1952 he graduated from OSU. Mr. Pinson worked as an appraisal officer for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 26 years. He enjoyed making rackets and teasing dogs, cats, squirrels, and even having fun with children. He was very considerate of other people in need, with food or any way he could help. He was very concerned for those who were shut in and visited those in the hospital and was always spiritually uplifting to those who were sick. He also enjoyed farming and spending time at his farm, and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters, Ola Statsner and Doris Franklin. Survivors include daughter, Marilyn Kay Pinson of Shawnee; son, Steven Douglas Pinson of Shawnee; two grandchildren, Steven Alan Pinson and Justin Tyler Pinson, of Stillwater; one brother, Doyale Pinson of Lone Grove; and many other loving family members. Marion will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
