Bio

Emma was actually born prior to her mother's marriage to John Bartunek. She was born to Lucy Shonka and Frank Zima 1861-1939 . They were very young, neighbors and had a very brief 2 month marriage. Emma is listed on the 1880 census living with her mother Lucy and her maternal grandparents. If you look very close, Emma's last name is there as "Zima". Furthermore, Emma is my grandfather's grandmother. We had his DNA tested in 2023 and it confirmed through other DNA matches on Ancestry that he shared DNA with Frank Zima's descendants. Lucy and John Bartunek did not marry until a few years after Emma's birth. However, John Bartunek is listed as Emma's father on all government documents and he did raise her as his own.
