Sister M. Lourdine Sok, SSND (Born Amelia Sok) First Profession August 22, 1935 Motherhouse St. Louis, Missouri Beloved sister of Sister Marysia Sok, SSND ; and Sister Pauline Sok, SSND . Sister M. Lourdine Sok, a retired teacher, died Tuesday (Oct. 25, 2005) at Anna House-The Sarah Community in Bridgeton. She was 90. Sister Lourdine was born in Petersburg, Nebraska, and raised in Loup City, Nebraska. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1932 and professed her final vows in 1943. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1952 from San Diego State University and a master's degree in education in 1972 from Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles. Sister Lourdine was a teacher for 47 years at schools in California, Illinois, Louisiana and Missouri, including La Mesa, Pico Rivera and San Diego; Radom, Illinois; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and St. Louis. In St. Louis, Sister Lourdine taught at Our Lady of Sorrows from 1934 to 1935, the former St. Aloysius Gonzaga from 1941 to 1944 and St. Michael from 1944 to 1947. From 1983 to 1996, Sister Lourdine was involved with community service and volunteer work at Villa Gesu, the former School Sisters of Notre Dame retirement community. She served in the same capacity for the next five years at the motherhouse in St. Louis. She was missioned to Anna House-The Sarah Community in Bridgeton in 2003. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at Anna House on the campus of DePaul Health Care Center, 12349 DePaul Drive, and from 5 to 8 p.m. in the School Sisters of Notre Dame Motherhouse Chapel, 320 East Ripa Avenue, Lemay, with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m. that evening. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the motherhouse chapel. Burial will follow in the Notre Dame motherhouse cemetery. Among the survivors is her sister, Frances Adams of Fort Collins, Colorado, and a brother, Leo Sok of Loup City.
