Dorothy Zabcik, 87, formerly of Temple, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren in an Allen hospital on Friday, January 31, 2014. Services were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 8, at Temple Brethren Church. Burial followed at Ocker Brethren Church Cemetery with a reception afterward at the church. Visitation was 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mrs. Zabcik was born on December 7, 1926 to Charles and Marie Marek Bedrich in the Meeks Community. She married the love of her life, Johnny E. Zabcik on December 23, 1946. She trained and received her Teachers Certification in 1942, followed by attending nursing school and graduating in 1946. Dorothy was a registered nurse at the Corsicana Memorial Hospital and later worked at Scott and White Hospital. In 1966, she became a school nurse for Temple ISD and worked there until she retired in 1991. She was a lifelong Aggie fan having her husband and offspring graduate from Texas A&M University. She was actively involved in the Temple Brethren Church. For years following retirement she and her husband toured the country in their RV. Her favorite vacation spots were in Colorado. She and Johnny moved to Dallas in 2009 to be near her daughter and son. Dorothy is survived by her three children, three grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. .
