Gladys Catherine Doskocil, 86, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, in Arlington. Service: Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1200 S. Davis Drive, Arlington, the Rev. James Gigliotti, T.O.R., celebrant. Interment: At a later date in Westphalia. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Maria Goretti Church with a rosary starting at 7 p.m. Gladys was born Nov. 16, 1927, in Westphalia to Ben and Rosa Rabroker. She married James Edward Doskocil in 1948 and they had six children. An Arlington resident for 55 years, she was an active volunteer and member of St. Maria Goretti. Known by many as "the plant lady," she loved to grow all sorts of plants, flowers and vegetables. Many admired her colorful, blooming gardens. She was also an avid quilter and seamstress who loved helping others. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Jim Doskocil; her grandson, Glenn Dale Hicks Jr.; and her six siblings. Survivors: Sons, Michael Doskocil and wife, Loretta, Thomas Doskocil; daughters, Diane Range and husband, Fritz, Marilyn Wooley and husband, Alan, Karen Fagerman and husband, Tim, and Susan Hicks and husband, Glenn; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
