A former Wellington man, William Woodrow Byrd, 57, of Houston, died in a Houston hospital Sunday, April 16, of emphysema and double pneumonia. He had been in ill health for several years. His brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Eron Forbis, attended the services, which were conducted Tuesday. Accompanying them were their son, Rommie Forbis of Perryton, and the other brother, Ozell Byrd, and daughter of Wolfe City. Woodrow Byrd left here in 1947 and served in the Merchant Marines and then became a tug boat captain. He was a member of Harbor Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Maude Byrd of Houston; four sons and two daughters, Kenneth H. of Lafayette, LA; William W. Jr., John L and Jerry D., all of Houston; Mrs. Doris Hutchins of Houston and Mrs. Louise Warrnick of Salt Lake City, UT; his father, Roy Lee Byrd of Crosscut; the two brothers and four sisters and 7 grandchildren.
