Clarence E. Greenwalt, 78, of Grand Island, died Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the Grand Island Nebraska Veterans Home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Marys Cathedral. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 8 p.m. Monday at Kleine Funeral Home. Clarence was born July 17, 1927 at St. Libory, NE, the son of John and Lucy (Grayek) Greenwalt. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 for four years and served in the Korean Conflict. He married Dorthy Stueven on Jan. 31, 1956 in Grand Island. Clarence was a self-employed carpenter, doing everything from building houses to handy-man work. He was a family man and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, flea markets, dancing, and playing the accordion. Clarence was a member of the VFW, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Platte Duetsche. Clarence is survived by his wife, Dorthy, of Grand Island, three daughters: Debra (Mrs. Scott) Peterson of Elkhorn, Diane (Mrs. Kevin) McDermott of Grand Island, Denise (Mrs. Rich) Raile of Grand Island, two brothers: Gene and Helen Greenwalt of St. Libory and Lyle and Betty Greenwalt of St. Paul, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Greenwalt. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Jennifer (Mrs. Aaron) Buettner, Tyler Peterson, Spencer Peterson, Amber Peterson, Matt McDermott, Drew McDermott, Luke McDermott, John McDermott, Kelli Raile, Brittany Raile, and one great-grandchild: Joel Buettner.
