When Mary Jane Hughes was born about 1875 in Arkansas, her father, John, was 20 and her mother, Paralee Matlock, was 15. She married Robert David Evans on February 18, 1891, in Clark County Arkansas. They had two sons during their marriage, Henry Jackson and Thomas Andrew Evans . She died as a young mother in December 1895 in Clark, Arkansas, at the age of 20.
