Bio

Frank Masin grew up in his native Austria until a young man, a line of general work, anything that he could get to do. In 1884 he came to the United States to seek his fortune, and to establish a home. In New York he spent several years working as a cigar maker. He came west and located in Nebraska in 1888, settling in Valley County as a farmer. As was true of every pioneer he went through hard times and suffered many hardships. But he persevered and succeeded in building up a good farm of 240 acres. As well as raising crops, he also raised cattle and hogs for market. Mr. Masin married Annie Hlavaek, also a native of Austria and came to this country in 1880. (Note: Anna’s maiden name is sometimes shown as Hlavacek and sometimes as Hulinsky.)
