Bio

Age 79 years. Al was a former manager of the Douglas County Information Services. He participated in the St. James Perpetual Adoration; computer organizations, Keystone Citizens Patrol and other groups. Al worked with many people and expected the best from everyone. He loved his family, grandchildren, fishing, high school football and card games. He believed work was important in developing character and was always interested in learning from everyone. He prayed for the gifts of love, faith, wisdom, patience and humility. Al passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimers. He is survived by his wife, Dixie (Jakob) Placek; sons, Tim (Randy), Jim (Karen); daughters, Teri (Jeff) Smith, Mary (Mark) Horrum; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; sisters, Frances Panowicz, Lincoln, NE, Florence Duester, St. Paul, NE. He was preceded in death by parents, Stanley and Vera Placek; brothers, Edward and John; sisters, Stella Schimonitz Smith and Marie Hoult. SERVICES Friday 10am at St. James Catholic Church. Interment Calvary Cemetery. VISITATION begins Thursday 4pm with a WAKE SERVICE at 6pm at the 72nd Street Chapel. Memorials to Madonna School or St. James School or Church. JOHN A.
