Conrad Grundmeyer Funeral: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein. Conrad was born April 11, 1919 in Raeville, Neb., the son of William and Mary (Surmeier) Grundmeyer. He married Alvina Sandman on Aug. 31, 1945 in Raeville. Conrad was a farmer in Nebraska until 1954 when they moved to Lamont, Iowa. He later bought a farm near Strawberry Point. In 1979 the couple retired from farming and moved to Oelwein, where he did maintenance work at Hickory Grove Golf Course. Survivors include his wife Alvina; children Sheryl (Joe) Hammel of Castalia, Lila Dvorsky of Marion, Dale (Julie) Grundmeyer of Edgewood, Jane (Bob) Groth of Garber, Mary (Sharm) Samuelson of Oelwein, Julie (Brian) Kay of Des Moines; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Conrad was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Fred Grundmeyer; three sisters, Martha Recker, Emma Velder and Lorena Esch; a granddaughter Jenny Grundmeyer; and two sons-in-law, Vernon Dvorsky and Bob Jones.
