Bio

Howard Lux, 85, of Ravenna died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at the Grand Island Veterans' Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ravenna Congregational Church with the Rev. Jeff Zinnel officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna. He was born June 1, 1928, in Ravenna to Marion and Elsie (Tuttle) Lux. On June 1, 1954, he married Phyllis Bedke in Grand Island. She preceded him in death. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Rollie and Becky Lux of Shelton; daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Duane Betke of Ravenna and Barbara and Gene Lemburg of Aurora; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He graduated from Ravenna High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952. He re-enlisted and served from 1956 to 1960. In 1961, he went to work for the city of Ravenna as a city police officer and later became the chief of police. He served his hometown for almost 33 years until his retirement. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
