Bio
Carmine Gerber Hathaway, 87, of Texarkana, Texas, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, in a local nursing home. Mrs. Hathaway was born March 6, 1926, in Palestine, Texas. She was a retired realtor and a member of Buchanan First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Eugene Gerber; and one son, Tommy Peterson. Survivors include one sister, Martha Lou Williams of Conroe, Texas; one grandson, Wade Durdin of Magnolia, Texas; two granddaughters, Robin Billingsly of Richmond, Texas, and Jamie Fowler of Willis, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Don Brazile officiating. Burial will be under direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Buchanan First Baptist Church Building Fund, 3635 Buchanan Loop Rd., Texarkana, TX 75501.
