Bio

When Willie Price Keene was born on March 28, 1889, in Ivanhoe, Texas, his father, Samuel Price Keene, age 26 and his mother, Susan Victoria Haynes Keene was 27. He married Jane Collins Keene on February 28, 1909, in Fannin County, Texas. They had six children in 11 years. Grandad Keene was a very stern man. When he told us to do something like mowing the yard or cleaning the garden, we'd better do it right away and without complaint. He had a voice that pierced our brains, yelling very loudly. Still I loved him. Grandad was a very good man who took great care of his family. Grandad was a carpenter as were many of the Keene men. He died on January 25, 1980, at the in Bonham, Texas, at the age of 89, after living a few years at the Seven Oaks Nursing Home in Fannin County Hospital, Bonham, Fannin County, Texas. Granny Keene died two years later at the same nursing home. Our Granny and Grandad are both buried at Duplex Cemetery near the Duplex Baptist Church, Duplex, Fannin County, Texas, USA. No one told me or our part of the family of their passing, we weren't able to attend his or Granny Keene's memorial services two years later. I was very sad when I later found out. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/11879355/willie-price-keene The Bonham Daily Favorite Sunday, January 27, 1980 ……………Courtesy of the Bonham Daily Favorite News………… The Memorial Announcement for Willie Price Keene Services for Willie Price Keene, 89, of Ivanhoe, who died Friday at the Fannin County Hospital, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Bonham, conducted by the Rev.
