Bio

Mr. Carroll Edgar Eyler, 69 of 8 Eyler Road, Thurmont, died Tuesday, March 5, at his home. Born Oct 11, 1921 in Jimtown, he was a son of Ella E. Iler Eyler of Thurmont and the late Frank M Eyler. Mr. Eyler served in the U.S. Army, entering on Sept. 8, 1942 in the Army Medical Corps, as a medic and ambulance driver in the European Theater. He was discharged from the service at the end of World War II, as a corporal. He was employed at Eyler-Stables in Thurmont in general maintenance. He was a member of the Edwin C. Creager Post 168, American Legion, Thurmont and the Thurmont AMVETS Post 7. Besides his mother, he is survived by one sister, Jean E. Laudon of Cascade; one brother, Herbert W. Eyler of Hampstead; and three nephews, Tony Schildt, Rick Eyler and Robbie Eyler. Mr. Eyler is at the Thurmont funeral home of Robert E. Dailey and son, 615 E. Main St., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 7. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barry E. Hidey, officiating. Interment will be in the Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont. Printed in the Frederick News Post March 7, 1991.
