Decatur Daily, The (AL) - Friday, June 7, 2013 Marcella 'Sally' Josephine Strehle Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Marcella "Sally" Josephine Strehle died April 13, 2013, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, following a courageous battle with breast cancer. Sally was born February 27, 1924, in Leigh, Nebraska, to James and Stephanie Kasik. She was raised on her parents 640 acre farm and developed many skills such as gardening, canning, sewing, and care of animals. She left the farm after graduating from high school to work in Omaha where she met the love of her life, Bob. They married on June 13, 1946, and were blessed with 65 years together. Sally was a homemaker in the truest sense of the word. She and Bob built two homes and a cabin for themselves. Bob was transferred numerous times during his career and Sally joined the adventure of resettling the family in each location. In her spare time, she volunteered in her communities, including delivering Meals on Wheels in Decatur for 33 years. She ran errands for those in need, cleaned homes for the elderly, and shared the abundance of their garden with others. Sally enjoyed needlework and crafts including ceramics which she shared with family and friends. She loved her Lord and Savior and began each day in prayer and reading her Bible. Sally is survived by daughters, Marcia (John), Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Teresa (David) Wade, Middleburg, Fla.; son, Robert Jr. (Cindy), Decatur; brother, Donald Kasik, Omaha, Neb.; sisters, Josephine Dieter, Ralston, Neb., Ludmilla Bart, Chatsworth, Calif., and Stephanie Jedlicka, Battle Creek, Neb.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for June 8th, at 1 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home, 2105 Beltline Road SW, Decatur, AL.
