Malinda Cockerham was listed as age 17 on the 1850 Pike, Marion County, Indiana, census with David Cockerham, age 52, b. NC, and Elizabeth (nee McVay) Cockerham, age 45. Elizabeth, David's wife, was not listed on the 1860 Pike, Marion, IN census with her family. David Cockerham, age 75, was listed with Matilda Cockerham Stuart (#59624605) and her family on the 1870 census in Jefferson County, Kansas. Malinda Cockerham married Jacob Motzenbocker in 1854 in Indiana. (marriage index) They were listed with their family on the 1860 census in St. Clair County, Missouri. They had also lived in Iowa and were listed on the 1865 Kansas State Census in Burlington, Coffey County, Kansas. The 1870 census for Burlington, Coffey, Kansas shows Jacob & Malinda Motsenbocker listed on the next page from John & Elizabeth Motsenbocker. Jacob & John were brothers, born in Kentucky, according to family information. Jacob & Malinda's family were listed in 1870 as follows: John, 20, b. IN; Anthony, 19, b. IN; Casey, (a girl) 16, b. IN; Elizabeth, 14, b. IN; William, 13, b. Iowa; Alfretta, 12, b. Iowa; Nancy, 10, b. MO; Margaret, 7, b. KS; Ulyssess, 3, b. KS, & Samuel, 1, b. KS. Most of these were Malinda's sons & daughters, but she was Jaob's second wife. Malinda was not listed with her family on the 1875 Pleasant Township, Coffey County, Kansas State Census. Jacob Motsenbocker was listed on the 1880 census in Wise County, Texas, with his sons and wife Emma. His youngest son was Albert, age 8, born in Kansas. Albert was born ca. 1872, which may have been the year of Malinda's death. There is no proof of this and there is also no proof that she was buried in this cemetery where her sister-in-law was buried. John Motsenbocker was also listed in Wise County, Texas, in 1880, with wife Letha (nee Parrish.)
