SHINER: Mary L. Patek, 96, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020. She was born February 20, 1924 in Sweet Home to Tom and Mary (Petru) Heiman. She was a member Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Altar Society, American Legion and VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She worked at Patek’s Grcoery and in later years, worked at Shiner Brewery Gift Shop. She was married to her beloved Charlie Patek Jr. for 65 years before his death in 2013. Her greatest achievement was raising seven children and sharing the love and laughter. She was the Queen at Shiner Nursing and Rehab and the Regional Queen for Tri-County Senior Citizens. Preceded in death by her parents; husband Charlie Patek Jr.; infant son, Joseph Patek; great-grandson, Clayton Patek; son-in-law, Bill Petru; four brothers, Tom, Laddie, Frank and Johnny Heiman. Private Funeral Mass at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church with Rev. Bryan Heyer officiating. Burial at Shiner Cemetery. Arrangements by Thiele Cooper Funeral Home, 361-293-5656.
