John Steve Hlavinka ,83, of Bay City, Texas, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2002 . He was born December 24, 1918 in East Bernard, Texas to the late Martin and Victoria Hlavinka. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army, He was also retired from the Texas Highway Department. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Steffie Milich Hlavinka; children, Mary Salinas (Gilbert); Linda Lowe (Johnny); three grandchildren; two brothers, Mike Hlavinka and wife, Mary; George Hlavinka and wife, Shirley; one sister, Josie Hlavinka Milich; many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Bevers; his parents; sister, Virginia Hlavinka; brother, Frank Hlavinka. Source:The Facts Newspaper,01/02/2002
