Viola Frances "Vi" Loesch, of Alma, Nebraska (formerly of Orleans, Nebraska) passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Colonial Villa Good Samaritan Center, Alma, Nebraska. Vi was born June 4, 1921, the second of six children born to Vincent and Hedwig (Zelazny) Torson in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. Vi was also baptized and confirmed in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. As a young child, her family moved to Fullerton, Nebraska, where she received her education graduating from Fullerton (NE.) High School with the class of 1940. On September 3, 1960, she was united in marriage to Francis Loesch at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Orleans, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Orleans, Nebraska where they operated the Loesch's I.G.A. Store until their retirement. Along with running the I.G.A. store, Vi also babysat in her home for what she recalled as, "about half the town of Orleans." She started babysitting to help parents out as it was hard to find daycare. At age of 86, Vi was still babysitting. Vi enjoyed making quilts and embroidering tea towels. She was a previous member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Orleans, Nebraska the St. Mary's Altar Society and the Orleans (NE.) Civic Club. In later years, she was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, Orleans, Nebraska. Vi was preceded in death by: husband, Francis Loesch in 1988; parents; sisters, Frances Torson, Irene Knopik and her husband, Virgil and brother, Adam Torson and his wife, Shirley. Vi leaves to mourn her passing: sister, Tootie Davidson and her husband, Wayne of Maxwell, Nebraska; brother, Archie Torson and his wife, Delores of St. Edward, Nebraska; special friends, Sue Anne and Keith Roberts family; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
