Funeral services for Mr. Gerald Lovil, 81 of Houston, Texas will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Linebarger officiating. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6–8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Lovil passed away July 14, 2013 at his home in Houston. Mr. Gerald Wayne Lovil, Sr. was born July 15, 1931 in Carthage, Texas to Walter and Clara Underwood Lovil. He met and later married Edna Fern "Bill" Salter and celebrated 46 years together until she preceded him in death on December 9, 2001. Mr. Lovil worked as a diesel mechanic and enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Gerald Wayne Lovil, Jr, daughter Brenda Ann Lovil, brothers, William Charles and Herman C. Lovil; sisters Velma Duke and Juanita Hudson and a great granddaughter, Chrysa Edna Bryanne Lovil. Mr. Lovil is survived by his son, Doug Lovil and wife Maria of Manvel; brothers, Jimmy Lovil and wife Jeanette, Dan Lovil and wife Alice and E.R. "Sonny" Lovil and wife Geneva, all of Carthage; grandchildren, Christina Lovil of Houston, Desiree` Lovil of Houston, Douglas Lovil of Manvel, Michael Lovil and wife Nancy of Manvel, Travis Lovil of Manvel, Anthony Germer, Sr. of Manvel; great grandchildren, Aydan Coen, Elijah Coen, Angel Lovil, Christian Lovil, Anthony Germer, Jr, Reyna Germer, and Carlito Lovil. Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Lovil, Douglas Lovil, Michael Lovil, Howard Shutter, Harry Danham, and Tony Zapata. An online guestbook may be signed at www.hawthornfuneralhome.com
