Bio

Rudolph Valentine Wiese, 86, of Bemidji died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1994, at Ah-Gwah-Ching nursing home near Walker. Funeral services were at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Wiese was born Aug. 9, 1908, in Bennington, Neb., the son of Emil and Mary Wiese. He grew up and went to school in Bennington and in the early 1930s moved to the Bemidji area where he had lived since, except for a short time when he returned to Nebraska. He worked for a concrete mason in Bemidji when he first arrived here and was married July 8, 1934, in Bemidji to Bertha Olson. He was a mechanic at Saar Motor Co., then at Tim's Implement and also at Conners Ford in Bemidji. He became self-employed as a mechanic in 1962 and retired in 1979. His wife died July 17, 1974. He was then married to Anne L. Poole on Dec. 22, 1975, in Bemidji. He was a past member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bemidji. He is survived by his wife; seven sons, Jerome (Ruby) Wiese, Douglas, Marvin, and Paul (Susan) Wiese, all of Bemidji, Kenneth (Betty) Wiese of Shevlin, Leroy (Patty0 Wiese of Mobile, Ala., and Keith (Janet) Wiese of WestBurke, Vt.; three daughters, Arlene (Howard) Johnson and Lois Wilcowski, both of Shevlin, and Pauline (James "Bob") Wilcowski of Pennington; a step-daughter, Lorna Bournes of Minneapolis; 46 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Margaret Paasch of Elkhorn, Neb. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Martin; a great-granddaughter; a sister; and four brothers. Bemidji Pioneer Dec. 30, 1994
