Funeral services for Lora Mae Samuelson Burreson, 94, were held Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap. Interment followed in Norse at the Rock Church Cemetery. Burreson died at home Sunday, July 3, 2005. She was born March 23, 1911, in Bosque County to Severt and Annie Samuelson, both immigrants from Norway. She lived most of her life in Cranfills Gap. She married her first love, Ervin (Fat) Burreson, on Sept. 3, 1934, and began a family of five children, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She loved them all and felt truly blessed, said a family spokesman. "She loved her children, her gardens, and the simple ways of country life," the spokesman continued. "Granny will ever be loved by us all." Burreson was preceded in death by her parents, 12 brothers and sisters, her husband, and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by daughters: Janice Campbell, Sue Dowlearn, and Linda Gillis; sons Gene Burreson and Leon Burreson; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury, was in charge of arrangements.
