Bio
"Mrs. Manerva Rodgers, age 87, died at the home of her son, J. F. Rodgers at Monarch Mills Saturday, and her remains were buried in the City Cemetery Sunday afternoon." (Source: The Progress, Union, South Carolina, Tuesday, February 11, 1913.) The J. F. Rodgers mentioned was actually J. S. (Jessie Silas). Her married name was translated as "Rodgers" on some records. Later, several of her children inserted the "d" to their name. In addition to those below, other children include William Pierce Rogers and Laura J. Rogers, both of whom died in childhood.
