Bio

THEEWEN - KOMINEK Miss. Emma Kominek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kominek, Bee, became the bride of Mr. Carl Theewen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Theewen of David Chy at a beautiful ceremony in St.Wenceslaus Church at Bee Monday, April 27. The pastor, the Rev. Arthur A. Huebsch, Ph.D., officiating using the double ring ceremony, while the choir under the direction of the organist, Mrs. John Makovicka, sang Gounod's "Ave Maria." Miss Kominek belonged to the Bee Young Ladies sodality and gave up her society badge into the hands of the sodality's director, the Rev. Huebsch, after having pronounced her consent to be united in matrimony. During the marriage ceremony and during the nuptial High Mass, the bride was attended by Miss Dorathy Kozisek, of Appleton, as bridesmaid who wore an ankle length sky blue dress. The best man was Bohumil Kominek. Bridesmaids were Miss Dorothy Airts, of Center, wearing a flesh pink dress, Miss Agnes Sabata, of Appleton, wearing a nile green dress, and the corresponding groomsmen were Harold and Matthew Theewen, both of David City. The witnesses to the marriage were John Kominek, a brother of the bride, and Gilbert Theewen, a brother of the groom. Little Bernardine Chloupek, a niece of the bride, was flower girl and ring bearer. She was dressed in yellow. The bride wore an ankle length white satin dressed trimmed with Brussel lace. Her train was tied into cap shape and trimmed with cala lilies. She carried a bouquet of daisies and snapdragons. The attendants wore wrist corsages held in place by ribbons of the same color as their dresses. It was a very touching ceremony, when after witnessing the marriage of the young couple, the pastor called forward to the altar the parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. John Kominek, and asked them to renew their marriage vows which they pledged to each other on the very same day thirty-seven years ago. After the church ceremony dinner was served on the farm of the bride's parents three miles north west of Bee on the Seward-David City highway No. 15. There were 150 guests present. The Rev. Dr. Huebsch was a guest of honor at this dinner. At night a large parish dance was given in the Bee parish hall with 300 participants. Mr. Charles Hain Sr. was master of ceremonies and toast master for the occasion. The young couple will reside two miles south of the Center church where they shall belong as parishioners in future.
