Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska, Thursday, November 21, 1974, Page 6, Column 1 Methodist Rites for Joseph Skolil Funeral services were held Monday for Joseph Skolil who died November 15, 1974 at the Valley County Hospital in Ord after a very lengthy illness. He was 80. The Rev. Charles Moorer officiated at the 2:00 pm rites at the United Methodist Church in Ord. Burial was in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. Joseph Skolil was born Nov. 22, 1893 in Geranium Township of Valley County, the son of Joseph and Magdelena Bedlivy Skolil. He was united in marriage to Rose Zabloudil on Nov. 4, 1919 at Ord at the home of Rose's parents. After marriage they farmed in Geranium Township for many years, later moving to a farm in Loup County in 1941. In 1945 they moved to a farm near North Loup. They retired and moved to Ord about 1950. Joe continued to do some farming and worked with livestock, which was his life's great joy, until illness forced him to stop. He was a member of the Z.C.B.J. Lodge #14 of Ord. Survivors include one son, Elvin of North Loup; one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Hruza of Ericson; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Novotny of Tulsa, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers and one sister.
