ORD — Alice J. Novak, 94, of rural Ord passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at her home northeast of Ord. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ord Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Trever Rook officiating. Burial will be in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice. Alice Julia was born July 20, 1918, on the family farm southwest of Ord to Joseph Sr. and Julia (Rutar) Nevrivy. She received her education at Hillsdale and Manderson country schools. On Oct. 25, 1938, Alice was united in marriage to Edward Novak at Ord. To this union a son, Myron E. Novak, was born. In December of 1949, the family moved from the farm west of Ord to a farm 12 miles northeast of Ord in the sand flat area of Valley County. The couple spent their married lives together on the farm. Mr. Novak passed away on May 6, 2010. Alice was a homemaker, gardener and raised chickens. She enjoyed going to the Bohemian Polka Dances and was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge Slavin 112 of National Hall. Alice is survived by her son, Myron E. Novak of rural Ord. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; two sisters, Lydia Zikmund and Addie Jensen; and a brother, Joseph Nevrivy Jr.
