Funeral services were held Wed., June 20, at 10:30 am at the Ord United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. Mr. Janda was born Feb. 1, 1917 at Ord to Charles and Mary (Drudik) Janda. He was raised on the family ranch est of Ord in the Sandflats area of Valley County. He had attended rural Valley County schools. He entered the US Navy Oct. 1, 1941 and served on the USS Aldebaran, a supply ship for the seventh fleet, He was discharged from the service Oct. 3, 1945. He returned to the family ranch east of Ord following his discharge. On Sept. 25, 1946 he married Agnes Urbanovsky at Ord. They lived on the Janda farm until 1991 when they moved into Ord. Mr. Janda was a member of the Ord VFW and the American Legion; the DAV, WFLA #437 and the Ord Elks Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Agnes of Ord; two daughters, Janet Niemeyer of Lincoln and Janice Cunningham of Lenora, KS; four grandchildren, Scott and Heather Niemeyer and Holly and Ryan Cunningham. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bessie Gibbons; two infant sisters; a brother, Charles Janda and one infant brother.
