Mr. Emery Lee Stewart , 76, died Sunday, Aug. 18 at the VA Hospital in Temple. Masonic graveside services were at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Myrtle Cemetery with the Waco Lodge No. 92 officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary. He was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Garrett, to Estil E. and Susie Byers Stewart. He was reared in Garrett and Ennis and was a 1943 graduate of Ennis High School. He then entered the U.S. Marines, and served in the Pacific Theater and the Occupation of Japan. On June 21, 1947, he married Eva Nell Hanson. After their marriage they lived in Ennis, moving to Dallas a year later. In 1955 they moved to Waco. He was an insurance agent for many years in Dallas and Waco. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1964. He served as the Worshipful Master of the Waco Lodge No. 92 from 1971 to 1972 and was curator for Grand Lodge of Texas from 1977 to 1998. He was also a 33-degree mason. He is survived by his wife, Eva Nell of Waco; daughter, Lee Ann Bonds of Clifton; grandchildren, Bronwyn and Cassie Bonds and Josh Stewart; nieces, Jan Hodge of Ferris and Ruth Ray of Fort Worth; and nephew, Thomas Stewart of Huntsville.
