from FresnoBee of May 5, 2013: Dorothy M. Wajckus, age 83, of Fresno, Ca. passed from this life on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. She was born on August 24, 1929, in Loup City, Nebraska. Dorothy was a long time member of the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church where she and her husband August were sacristans for 18 years. In 1996 Dorothy and August were recipients of the Benemerenti Medal presented to them by Pope John Paul II for their years of dedicated service to the church. August passed away in 2006. Dorothy is survived by her son, Dennis and daughter-in-law Marian. She grew up with nine brothers, two have survived, Alfred of Lincoln, Ne. and Anthony of St. Paul, Ne. She is also survived by numerous sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very dearly. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Monday, May 6, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made in floral tributes or contributions in Dorothy's memory to The Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church, 855 E. Floradora Ave., Fresno, Ca. 93728; or the donor's favorite charity Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 1525 East Saginaw Way, Fresno, California
