Herald Coaster, April 12, 1996: Funeral services for Johnnie Edward Koenig, 84, of Needville, will be held Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Ed Broyles will officiate the services. Mr. Koenig was born Nov. 22, 1911 in Waelder, and passed away Wednesday, April 10, 1996 in Wharton. He served in the Navy during World War II and was discharged on Set. 21, 1945, as an aviation machinist mate, second class. He was also in the U.S. Naval Reserves and was an active member of American Legion Post 271. He had received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, was water baptized and expressed his desire to serve God by serving others. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Mary Koenig; and three brothers: Ernest, Fred and George D. Koenig. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Jean Broyles and husband, Ed, of Indianapolis, IN; son, Thomas Edward Koenig of San Antonio; sisters, Mayme Powers and Mary Louise Irvin; brothers, Jack R. Koenig, Ralph W. Koenig, Robert L. Koenig and Harold H. Koenig; and grandchildren, David and Aaron Broyles. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 12 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry (FM 2218 & Hwy 59), Rosenberg, 341-8800.
