Bio

DORIS ELIZABETH ANDREWS GOODE "MAMA", passed away on April 29, 2005, after a long and healthy life that spanned 100 years. She was born on December 9, 1904, in Lottie, Louisiana to John Lee and Alberta Roberts Andrews. "Mama" was a beautiful, strong, independent woman who always put others first, especially her family. Doris enjoyed a long career, working for Joske's Dept. Store for 30+ years. She was also very active with her church, being committed to Christ and involved with Texas Avenue Baptist Church for many, many years. Widely respected for her outspoken personality, friends, young and old, often sought her wise counsel in making decisions. "MaMa" cherished her relationships with her five sisters, two children, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her sense of humor and compassion will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her dear sisters, Estelle Andrews, Hilda Greene and Rose Guedry; by her beloved son, Wayne Andrews Goode and his wife, Karen Goodman Goode; her precious granddaughter, Julie Beth Goode, and by her husband, J.H. Goode, Sr. She is survived by sisters, Leigh Kent and Ruth Wimmer and by son, J.H. Goode, Jr. and his wife, Margaret. She is also survived by three of her grandchildren and their families: Joel Goode, his wife, Lynn and their sons, Owen and Andrew; Lisa Goode Russek, her husband, Robert and their sons, Samuel and William; and Cheryl Goode Floyd, her husband Rick, and their daughters, Claudia, Meredith and Georgia. Graveside services will be Saturday, May 7, 2005, 10:00 a.m., Forest Park Lawndale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Christian charity of your choice.
