Dorothea Marie Sorensen, 86, of Sedalia, Missouri, (formerly of Columbus, Nebraska) died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 3:00 P.M. at the Circle Mound Cemetery in Rising City, Nebraska with Pastor Dusty Sprague officiating. Friends are invited for a visitation on Saturday from 1:30 – 2:30 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home. Dorothea Marie Workman Sorensen was born February 6, 1927, in Rising City, Nebraska, to Edward "Ned" and Bessie (Smith) Callaghan. She attended school in Butler County Nebraska. On May 27, 1944, Dorothea was married to Ralph Workman in Leavenworth, Kansas. They lived in Columbus where Dorothea worked at the hospital, and also at Becton Dickinson and Dales. In 1961, she moved to Omaha and went to work for Western Electric. On March 20, 1976, Dorothea was married to Fred Sorensen. She moved to Sedalia, Missouri, in 1985. She enjoyed spending time with her animals and tending to her cattle. Dorothea is survived by: Daughter: Sandy Salazar of Papillion, NE Daughter: Barbara (Kenneth) Fago of Lincoln, MO Son: Daniel (Janet) Workman of Lincoln, MO Daughter: Nancy (Bruce) McLaughlin-Gerry of Riverside, CA Daughter: Julie (Tom) Simmons of Glenwood, IA Daughter: Terri (Michael) Peretto of Aurora, CO 18 Grandchildren 14 Great Grandchildren Dorothea was preceded in death by: Parents: Edmund and Bessie Callaghan Husband: Fred Sorensen Sister: Ina Mae Bernt Sister: Luella Callaghan Brother: Orville Callaghan Brother: Merle Callaghan
