Honey Grove Signal Citizen 6 August 1954 W. L. Chaney Passes Away on Tuesday Morning. W. L. Chaney, retired farmer, passed away at his home at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, after an illness. He resided at 206 S. 11th street. He was born in Tennessee, June 24, 1876, being 78 years of age. He was married to Katherine McFarland, May 1, 1904. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs. U. L. Troutt, Honey Grove; Mrs. Bill Brannum, Honey Grove; Mrs. C. L. Battle, Montgomery, Ala.; Mrs. W. A. McClure, Paris. A son, Willard Chaney died in 1908. Also surviving are five grandchildren, two brothers, S. B. Chaney and Guy Chaney, and a sister, Miss Litllie Chaney, all of Honey Grove. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. T. J. Watts, with burial at Oakwood cemetery by the West Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Robert Shelton, Sr., Raymond Johnson, Lawrence Myers, Jim Siebenthal, Charles Eaton and Louis Rhodes.
