August Brose was born December 13, 1847 at Bredenfelde, Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germany, and passed away August 12, 1924 at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 29 days. At the place of his birth he was also baptized and confirmed. In 1870 and 1871 he served his old country in the Franco-Prussian War. In 1874 he emigrated, first locating in Wisconsin and after three years in H Precinct, Seward county, Nebraska, where he continued his residence unto his end. Here he was united in marriage to Louise, nee Brandt. Ten children were born to this union, two of them preceding the father in death. The youngest child died August 19, 1895, the day after the mother and wife had departed this life and was buried in the same grave with the mother. Since 1895 Mr. Brose had been a regular member of Immanuel Lutheran church. The immediate cause of his death was cerebral hemorrhage. He leaves to mourn his loss four sons, four daughters, two sons-in-law, three daughters-in-law, thirteen grandchildren and one sister in Appleton, Wis. Funeral services were held August 14 at the house and in the church, and interment was made in the Stone church cemetery. Seward Journal, Seward, NE, Thurs, August 21, 1924
