MRS. JOHN BACA PASSED AWAY FRIDAY Mrs. John Baca, nee Katherine Kurtz, quietly passed away at the Schultz Hospital Friday evening at 11:50 after being seriously ill only one week, although she has been in ill health for several years. She was born in Micovie, Czecho Slovakia, on Nov. 11, 1871. At the time of her death she was 73 years, 2 months and 28 days old. She came to this country with her parents in 1881 at the age of 10 years. On June 30th, 1891 she was united in marriage to John Baca, they made their home with Mr. Baca's parents at Flatonia. They were blessed with 15 children, 5 of whom preceded her in death, 3 in infancy and 2 daughters after they were married. She was a loving and devoted mother and a good Christian woman. A member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and also a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge. Funeral services were conducted from the Sacred Heart Church at 10 o'clock Monday morning with Requiem High Mass and burial in the Flatonia City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Smojstrla of Waco, Emil E. Nsrsta, Jr., of Houston, Reinhardt Winkler of Schulenburg, Fred Nsrsta, John Stayk and Julius Pospisil of Flatonia. She is survived by her bereaved husband, John Baca, 6 daughters, Mesdames Agnes Swoptrla of Waco, Emma Hrowadka of Temple, Viola Nesrsta of Houston, Eleanor Marshall, Olga Mrmestik and Miss Annie Baca of Flatonia, 4 sons, Charlie of Sanger, Cal., Rudolph of Greenville, Miss., Adolph, of Schulenburg and Herman of Flatonia, one brother, Joe Kurtz of Shiner and 27 grandchildren.
