Bio
Born in Poland (Prussia). Daughter of Thomas and Dorothea Sowik. Anna married Frank Burda when she was 18 yrs old, in Panna Maria, Texas. The couple was blessed with 7 children total, 5 while in Panna Maria. The catholic church in Panna Maria (Immaculate Conception of the BVM Church) was their parish church, and their first 5 children were baptized there btwn 1859-1869. In 1869, when her husband became a US citizen, the family moved to Yorktown (Clinton), DeWitt County, Texas, where they were blessed with their youngest 2 children. The Burdas belonged to Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown. Anna passed away at age 64, only 12 days after having her will prepared. Both Frank and wife Anna are buried at the parish cemetery. Their tombstones are in Polish. Children of Frank & Anna Burda: Anton(io), Peter, Hedwig, Anna, Francisca, Maria and John.
