Son of Andreas Burda & Catherine Kowalik. Frank was born in Radun, Poland and was baptized at Sw Trojcy, the Burda's parish church in Wisnicse, Poland. Frank grew up there and was a farmhand. He immigrated alone, to the United States in 1855, at the age of 29. He settled in Panna Maria, Texas, where he married Anna. The couple was blessed with 5 children. The catholic church in Panna Maria (Immaculate Conception of the BVM Church) was their parish church, and the first 5 children were baptized there btwn 1859-1869. Frank raised cattle while living in Panna Maria. In 1869, when he became a US citizen, his family moved to Yorktown (Clinton), DeWitt County, Texas, where they were blessed with their youngest 2 children. In DeWitt County, Frank raised Irish potatoes, sweet potatoes and Indian corn. The Burdas belonged to Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown. Franz died suddenly & unexpectedly when he was only 55 years old. His funeral was held at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown, TX. Both Frank and wife Anna are buried at the parish cemetery. Their tombstones are in Polish.
